The PDF can be up to 50 MB and 1,000 pages. These are practical processing limits for working in your browser, so a very large PDF can still be slow or fail on some devices.

Which way does each rotation option turn the pages?

90° clockwise turns each page a quarter turn to the right, 180° turns it upside down, and 90° counter-clockwise turns it a quarter turn to the left. You can rotate all pages, or choose pages by typing page numbers and ranges such as 2, 5-6. Pages you don't choose stay exactly as they are. Your original file isn't changed: you download a new PDF.

What if some pages are already rotated?

The turn you choose is added to each page's current rotation, so a page that is already turned 90° clockwise and is rotated 90° clockwise again ends up turned 180°. Pages with different rotations are each turned from where they are now. Rotating always starts from the file you chose, not from an earlier result, so pressing the button again doesn't turn a page twice.

What does Rotate PDF not carry over?

Rotate PDF builds a new PDF from copies of your pages and changes only how each page is turned: page content and page sizes are kept as they are. Bookmarks, document properties such as title and author, page labels, and named destinations are not carried over. Fillable form fields may stop being fillable, and links that jump to another page inside a document may stop working. Web links are kept. Before you can download, the result is checked: it must have the same pages in the same order, each compared with the original page it should be, with the rotation it should have. If anything doesn't match, nothing is offered for download.

Can I rotate a password-protected PDF?

Not directly. A PDF that needs a password to open can't be read here, and some PDFs have security settings this tool can't process even when they open without one. You'll see a message explaining which applies.
