Question 1

Is this image resizer free to use?

Accepted Answer

Yes — completely free, with no sign-up, no account, and no limit on how many images you resize.

Question 2

Does resizing reduce image quality?

Accepted Answer

Shrinking an image generally keeps it looking sharp, since there's more detail than the smaller size needs. Enlarging an image can look softer, because the tool has to invent pixels that were never in the original — a modest enlargement usually looks fine, but a very large one will show it. For JPG and WebP, the tool re-encodes at a high quality setting so resizing doesn't also visibly compress your photo.

Question 3

What does "lock aspect ratio" do?

Accepted Answer

With it on, changing the width automatically works out the matching height (and vice versa), so your image can't come out stretched or squashed. Turn it off if you want to set width and height independently — for example, to fit an exact size a website or form requires.

Question 4

Can I make an image bigger, not just smaller?

Accepted Answer

Yes — both directions are supported. Making an image larger than its original size is called upscaling; it works, though very large enlargements can look softer than the original, as explained above.

Question 5

Will resizing change my image's format?

Accepted Answer

No — a JPG stays a JPG, a PNG stays a PNG, and a WebP stays a WebP. Transparency in a PNG or WebP is preserved through the resize rather than filled with a background color.

Question 6

Will my photo's rotation come out right?

Accepted Answer

Yes — the tool reads the rotation information your camera or phone embeds in the photo and applies it automatically, so the resized image should end up facing the same way as it does in your gallery.

Question 7

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

Accepted Answer

No. The file is read, resized, and downloaded entirely inside your browser — it never leaves your device, and nothing is stored on a server.
